Hexa-x-II EU’s Flagship 6G project launched with our significant presence

image-left The European Commission (EC) has today announced the creation of Hexa-X-II, the second phase of the European 6G flagship initiative. This new phase will expand the Hexa-X partner list to 44 organizations that are tasked with creating the pre-standardized platform and system view that will form the basis for many inputs into future 6G standardization.

The HEXA-X-II project has been awarded funding from the EC as part of the first call of the Smart Network and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS-JU). This is the next significant step toward bringing together key stakeholders in Europe. The goal of both Hexa-X and Hexa-X-II is to establish Europe as leader in 6G.

Our research team, within Chalmers as one of the 44 partners of the project will play an important role across several workpackages focusing on Sustainability, Intelligent radio air interface design, Impact and Dissemination.

SVT report on 6G and new antenna chamber featuring Tommy Svensson

SVT’s news show Rapport recently visited E2’s new antenna chamber built for future antenna solutions, and where 6G antennas will be tested. To compare, 4G gave us mobile phones and 5G to remote control items in hour homes.

– With 6G the idea is to link the digital world with the physical human world. Perhaps we can include other senses besides sight and hearing. Virual glasses could be a starting point but there will be more to come, says Tommy Svensson, Professor at Communication Systems and Information Theory. The segment starts at 07.22 in the broadcast.

Our latest team member. Welcome Han!

image-left Han has joined our team as Post doctoral researcher. Let’s hear to her exciting story. “I joined our team as post-doctoral researcher. I received the Ph.D degree in communication engineering from the University of Liverpool, U.K. in 2022. My current research interests include information theory, graph theory, machine learning, and their applications in wireless communications.”
